General Information and Preparation:

In Preparation for the Retreat:
Handle the details of your life so that you can be fully present at the retreat. The retreat is silent, setting the container for internal work so for your benefit distractions are minimized. Please wear loose fitting, dark [black, navy, brown] clothing without loud labels and designs.  Please do your best to observe this. The intent is to minimize visual distractions in the Zendo.  If you have a yoga mat and/or Zafu (sitting pillow), please bring with you.

Meals:

Meals will be ‘on your own’. Please eat lunch before starting on Saturday and eat breakfast before starting on Sunday morning. There will be a one hour break period to eat lunch on your own on Saturday afternoon. There are many options, including a vegan restaurant, within a one block walking distance. You are encouraged to carry the meditation practice into the world as you depart for lunch and eat in essential silence alone or with others.

Dana:
The exquisite paradox in Buddhism is that the more we give – and the more we give without seeking something in return – the wealthier we will become (in the broadest sense of the word). By giving, we destroy those acquisitive impulses that ultimately lead to further suffering. We ask you to base the amount of your donation upon the value you have received and your ability to give.
